Melos.UA gives new life to folk melodies: sheet music, lyrics and audio demos are becoming open to Ukraine and the whole world.

About the project
At the heart of the archive is the work of Lysko Zinovii: a Ukrainian composer, musicologist, folklorist, head of the Ukrainian Music Institute in New York and chair of the musicological commission of the Ukrainian Free University.
This is a true treasure of musical heritage: sheet music and lyrics collected so that Ukrainian folk song remains alive, studied and heard.
What has been done
Why it matters now
Now is the time to revive it for future generations. The portal will become a bridge between the past and the future, connecting archival heritage with technology, search, audio and broad public access.
How it will work
Genre, region, theme and keywords will help people quickly find the songs they need.
A title, first line or melody can become an entry point into the archive.
An interactive map of Ukraine will reveal characteristic songs from each region.
Selected songs can already be heard on the YouTube channel, and demo versions will become part of the portal.
The portal will be free and open to everyone who wants to explore, listen to and share Ukrainian song heritage.
Support the project
The archive has already been scanned with our own funds. Support is now needed to convert the materials into a professional digital music format, create audio demo versions of the songs and build the portal itself.
Donations will go to the account of MelosUA, a non-profit public organization created so that every contribution works only toward the implementation of this project.
